Reporting to the SVP, US Operations, or an appointed designate, the US Fleet Manager will be responsible to manage the assignment, utilization, repair, and maintenance of equipment used to support field activities.

 

The successful candidate will be willing and able to travel within the US; ability to travel to Canada as well is preferred. 

 

What You’ll Do Here

  • Manage the maintenance, repair, and oversight of all equipment for assigned facilities and work sites in accordance with Utilities equipment standards.

  • Implement department objectives and strategies to maintain an effective equipment program within the boundaries of department policy.

  • Assist the management team with final equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases to meet budgetary goals.

  • Maintain communications with local equipment dealers and appropriate vendors.

  • Ensure Fleet and Equipment is managed, costed, and tracked through SAP and associated systems.

  • Manage and direct effective maintenance and repair, equipment safety programs, and equipment utilization on company projects to ensure regional safety goals are met.

  • Responsible to ensure that vehicle maintenance and fleet administration programs are developed and followed.

  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Responsible for the operational and financial performance US Fleet.

  • Long term planning for replacement and addition of new equipment asset additions.

  • Oversee and supervise heavy equipment mechanic staff, equipment coordinators and administrators where applicable.

  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

 

What You Bring to the Team

  • Minimum 3 years related construction equipment experience.

  • Experience with equipment licensing and registration in California, Colorado, Illinois, Washington state.

  • Knowledge / experience in movement of equipment within the US, across to Canada & internationally an asset.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to travel to local facilities and work sites.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with SAP fleet and equipment management. an asset.

  • Experience with Geotab and Heavy Equipment Manufacturers Telematics (i.e., CAT, JDLINK) an asset.

  • Computer literate in MS office products.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • General Knowledge of construction practices (utility installations, gas, bell hydro, etc.).

  • General knowledge of business principles, particularly asset management principles.
