Aecon is currently seeking a CAD Drafter to join the iconic Gordie Howe - Bridging North America Project based out of Detroit, Michigan.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Generates engineering drawings of highway structures and profiles of highway elevations for construction as required by our Technical Dept.
- Seeks continuing education opportunities so that present level of skills can be upgraded
- Works from notes, verbal instructions, sketches and drawings, or engineering specifications; consolidates the information to be used to prepare working plans, layouts and detailed drawings
- Reviews the design and helps resolve the details not completely defined
- Determines the best combination of all the preliminary information and contributing data to develop the final design
- Develops designs or drawings using engineering principals, established company standards, procedures, and instructions
- Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documents for adherence to industry design standards
- Verifies completed work; checks dimensions, materials to be used, processing information, etc.
- Coordinates with other internal departments as required
- Assures that any changes are documented and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures and in a timely manner
- Follows company procedures, work instructions and guidelines in the design, layout, and documentation i.e. procedure, classification coding and retrieval system, CAD drafting and archival guidelines, etc.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Technical school diploma plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field civil engineering design sector
- 3D Modeling experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D systems
- Must be a self-starter with good verbal/written communication skills
