Position Title:  Quality Control Inspector

Aecon is currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join the iconic Gordie Howe - Bridging North America Project based in Detroit, Michigan. The Quality Control Inspector shall be responsible for inspecting and testing activities for the construction of specific infrastructure on the project. 

Key Responsibilities

• Performs on-site quality inspections in accordance with project requirements.
• Inspects work in progress and/or completed to determine and ensure that the work complies with the standards and specifications.
• Assists with the implementation and maintenance of quality programs as required.
• Assists with the preparation and verification of various technical reports; including pre- and post-inspection.
• Identifies and reports work that does not meet the quality requirements.
• Collaborates with the project team to determine approaches & methods to improve the overall quality of work.
• Completes all associated documentation and forms for individual inspection.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of a cost of quality tracking system.
• Assists with the tracking of non-conformance reports and corrective/ preventative action requests.
• Must have MDOTexperience.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• S. Sc. Civil, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic ISO 9001 training.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Bridge, Highway, Buildings or other major Infrastructure project construction.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in quality assurance role.
• Quality certification is an asset.
• Computer literate in MS Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
• Familiar with inspection techniques related to the construction industry.
• Proven ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven organization and time management skills.
• Must have MDOT experience.
