We are seeking our next Quality Coordinator to join our Civil East Team Division who will be responsible for performing in-process and final inspections to ensure construction activities meet technical and quality requirements. 

 

Your responsibilities on the project:

  • Ensure understanding of quality issues, including risks and opportunities, and effective implementation of the project and subcontractor quality plans on site.
  • Review and become familiar with the project and subcontractor CIPs
  • Review and comment on documents submitted by subcontractors and major (off-site) suppliers, such as quality plans, CIPs, checklists and standard forms/templates.
  • Monitor progress of CIPs and ensure that required quality records are available
  • Participate in kick-off meetings with subcontractors to ensure that risks related to quality issues have been identified, and that the personnel and tools required to implement the quality program are adequate for the scope of the contract.
  • Conduct site patrols to monitor construction work and ensure that the construction team carries out all required inspections, and that the results are documented in accordance with CIP requirements and recorded.
  • Oversee the management of non-conformances until they are closed according to the established process, and issue non-conformances as required.
  • Attend construction coordination meetings as a representative of the quality department and ensure follow-up and closure of quality-related issues.
  • Attend audits, verifications and/or inspections carried out by the designer or customer, as appropriate, and follow up and close out such audits, verifications and/or inspections
  • Coordinate the preparation of historical records
  • Participate in problem-solving related to quality issues and make suggestions for the improvement of the project's quality system, contribute to lessons learned sessions during and at the end of the project.
  • Support teams during internal audits
  • Contribute to the documentation of quality-related claims/litigations through research and analysis.
  • Participate in the evaluation of subcontractor performance.
  • Comply in all respects with the requirements of the health and safety framework program and environmental management plans.

 

What you bring to the team:

  • Degree in civil engineering, a combination of training and experience in the construction industry could be considered
  • 7 to 10 years' experience in civil construction and/or infrastructure and buildings
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment
  • Experience in concrete inspection and testing
  • Working knowledge of CSA A23.1, CSA A23.2
  • Working knowledge of CSA W47.1, CSA W59 and CSA W178 an asset
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Understanding of design and construction requirements
  • Strong coordination and organization skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated team player who thrives and adapts to a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all project stakeholders, subcontractors, the customer and other interested parties
