Position Overview
140+ years in the industry means Aecon’s roots in construction and infrastructure development run deep. We have earned the position of the preferred contractor to numerous public entities and Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) across Canada and abroad. Our Construction segment includes all aspects of the construction of both public and private infrastructure in the Civil, Urban Transportation, Nuclear, Utility, and Conventional Industrial sectors. We operate primarily in Canada but selectively pursue International initiatives.


Aecon’s Corporate division provides a support system which extends throughout all branches of the company and includes IT services, communications, finance and human resources, among others.

Reporting to the Director, Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Business Partner is responsible for providing professional and client-focused support with a strong emphasis on talent sourcing strategies for hard to find talent and critical roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct full life-cycle recruitment for hard to fill and critical roles across the organization. This includes sourcing, recruitment, screening resumes, conducting telephone screens, interviewing, reference checks, and composing and extending job offers.
  • Identify strategies and sourcing channels to build a pipeline of candidates for assigned portfolio. Establish connections, maintain and leverage a professional online and social media presence, and prospect talent through your network. Provide trusted advice to hiring managers by using diverse interviewing and assessment techniques to validate candidate experience levels.
  • Consult with hiring managers and provide updates on the labour market, candidate availability, sourcing methods, recruitment risks, relocation packages and more.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the business to understand and forecast needs and initiatives.
  • Manage third party relationships with Vendors.
  • Assist and consult on the development of job descriptions.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders and Human Resources Business Partners to identify competencies required for open roles and provide guidance on the recruitment process.
  • Guide candidates throughout the recruitment process and ensure a smooth onboarding experience in partnership with the HRBP.
  • Identify opportunities for process-improvement.
  • Responsible for critical recruitment reporting metrics.

  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 5+ years recruitment experience, with knowledge of construction industry.
  • Post-secondary education with a major in Human Resource Management.
  • Completed CPHR designation is considered an asset.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Exceptional organization and emerging project management skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deliverables.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly communicate with various audiences, stakeholders and end users.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues by analyzing and evaluating possible solutions.
  • Strong customer service skills with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with all level of employees through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Incumbent may be required to travel and worked varied hours.
