What is the Opportunity?
Aecon is seeking a Commissioning & Handover Coordinator (MEP) to support the successful delivery of an infrastructure project in Eastern Canada.
Reporting to the Project Management team, the successful candidate will assist in planning, coordinating, tracking, and facilitating commissioning, turnover, and handover activities across mechanical, electrical, and associated systems. This role will work closely with construction, engineering, quality, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
This position is project-based and offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience on a major infrastructure project while working alongside experienced project delivery teams.
What You'll Do Here:
- Support the development and implementation of commissioning and turnover plans.
- Coordinate commissioning activities between construction, engineering, quality, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
- Assist with tracking system completions, deficiencies, testing activities, and turnover milestones.
- Maintain commissioning schedules and monitor progress against project objectives.
- Support the preparation, collection, and review of turnover documentation packages.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and startup activities for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure commissioning documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.
- Participate in system walkdowns and deficiency management processes.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of commissioning trackers and reporting tools.
- Work closely with Quality and Construction teams to verify system readiness for commissioning.
- Support client handover activities and ensure turnover requirements are met.
- Participate in commissioning meetings and prepare progress reports as required.
- Promote and support Aecon’s health, safety, and environmental programs.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in construction, commissioning, turnover, quality, project coordination, or related project delivery roles.
- Experience supporting mechanical and electrical systems on industrial, infrastructure, energy, utility, or heavy civil projects is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with commissioning, startup, testing, and handover processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong organizational and document management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience using project management or commissioning software is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a construction environment.
- Willingness to work in a project-based environment and travel to site as required.
