We are currently seeking an Electrical Lead to support a major hydro infrastructure project in New Brunswick. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and oversight for all electrical engineering activities related to the project, ensuring designs, systems, and installations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, budget, and schedule.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Lead and coordinate all electrical engineering and design activities for the project.
- Review and oversee electrical designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation prepared by internal teams and external consultants.
- Ensure electrical systems are designed and executed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project specifications.
- Support the development and implementation of engineering execution plans and technical strategies.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, construction, commissioning, procurement, and project controls.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and technical workshops.
- Support procurement activities related to electrical equipment and subcontractors, including technical bid evaluations and vendor reviews.
- Monitor project progress, identify technical risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory stakeholders regarding electrical engineering matters.
- Support field activities and provide engineering assistance during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements throughout all engineering activities.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of technical and construction-related issues.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and presentations for project management and stakeholders.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial engineering association.
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience within hydroelectric, industrial, heavy civil, power generation, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience leading electrical engineering activities on large multidisciplinary projects.
- Knowledge of electrical power systems, substations, switchgear, protection and control systems, generators, transformers, and industrial electrical installations.
- Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities in complex project environments.
- Familiarity with EPC and/or EPCM project delivery models.
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments.
- Previous experience on hydroelectric or large energy infrastructure projects is considered a strong asset.
