What is the Opportunity?

We are currently seeking a Technical Manager to support a major hydro infrastructure project in New Brunswick. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, implementation, and oversight of the Technical Design Management Plan, while coordinating all technical designs produced by the design team to ensure compliance with project requirements, contractual obligations, budget, and schedule.

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Provide senior technical leadership and direct supervision to internal and external engineering professionals.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of complex engineering assignments requiring independent judgment and innovative problem-solving approaches.
  • Ensure the project is executed in accordance with approved design, budget, schedule, and company/project procedures.
  • Manage project plans, engineering schedules, estimates, and cost controls for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Review and evaluate technical deliverables to ensure quality, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Mentor and coach technical staff, supporting team development and knowledge transfer.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the engineering function to ensure business objectives and project targets are achieved.
  • Ensure all design project deliverables are completed on time and support the resolution of project-level technical issues and disputes.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key project stakeholders.
  • Direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering activities and design packages.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management regarding workload, technical risks, financial performance, and opportunities.
  • Support recruitment efforts and workforce planning for engineering and technical teams.
  • Prepare staff development and succession plans for technical personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and project staff.
  • Review and approve expenditures and proposal pricing within delegated authority.
  • Participate in client meetings, business development activities, and proposal preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of contracts with design consultants and subcontractors.
  • Act as a liaison between Construction, Design teams, and the Client to ensure alignment and coordination throughout project execution.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering and project experience within large industrial, hydro, infrastructure, EPC, or EPCM environments.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial engineering association.
  • Strong understanding of engineering systems, construction methodologies, and technical project delivery.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and design coordination activities on large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering change management processes and technical governance.
  • Experience with engineered equipment, automated systems, or specialized tooling systems is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with construction and engineering software such as Primavera P6, AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments.
  • Experience within hydroelectric, heavy civil, or major infrastructure projects is considered a strong asset.
