Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Mobile Field Mechanic will perform skilled journeyman‑level work, including preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.
Location: Ottawa & Surrounding Area
Key Responsibilities

Adhere to all Workplace Safety Environmental and National Safety Code policies and regulations

Work directly with operations teams and liaise with suppliers

Read and interpret diagrams schematics and manufacturer repair manuals

Maintain and service a fleet of trucks trailers and construction equipment

Perform diagnostics maintenance and repairs on electrical hydraulic powertrain suspension brake and air systems

Operate hoists and lift devices safely to position machinery and components

Inspect troubleshoot lubricate service assemble and repair vehicles and equipment
-
Use computer‑based diagnostic tools to interpret fault codes

Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices or less experienced maintenance personnel

Conduct hands‑on repairs and ensure work aligns with manufacturer specifications

Recommend improvements to maintenance policies and procedures

Work independently with minimal supervision

Maintain strong customer relations and professionalism

Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform mobile service calls

Conduct safety checks on all vehicles and equipment
Required Knowledge and Experience
-
High school diploma with minimum 5 years’ experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair
-
Truck and Coach Service License (310T) required

Valid DZ license an asset
-
Heavy‑Duty Equipment Technician (421A) an asset
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
-
Ability to perform heavy lifting

Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Salary range: The expected hourly rate for this position is $40 - $47/hr as per the current Collective Agreement. Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
