The Document Control Manager will also facilitate system selection and set up including definition and implementation of processes, policies, and procedures to establish document management best practices across the projects.This position is site based and will working on an exciting heavy civil infrastructure project in Golden, BC.


Key Responsibilities

  • Setting policies and procedures, and creating system(s) to establish document management best practices across the project.
  • Implementing a document management department and system in line with the needs of the project including but not limited to project initiation for the major projects.
  • Leading the document control team and providing effective direction and motivation of the departmental staff.
  • Actively promote cross-departmental communication, identify conflicting priorities, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided (to relevant parties) when schedule conflicts arise.
  • Liaising with IT to ensure all document management equipment (hardware, software, etc.) is maintained.
  • Developing and implementing work processes and procedures such as Engineering Document Control, Correspondence Control, Contract or Vendors Data Management, Standards Management, Project Standards and Document Numbering.
  • Designing and implementing detailed work instructions to support the approved procedures and supervise/influence the day-to-day activities of document management staff.
  • Provide daily on-the-job training.
  • Working closely with various groups to ensure they achieve maximum efficiency in document handling.


Required Knowledge and Skills

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the Document Control field with at least 3 years’ experience in a lead document control role.
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree or Professional Degree, Engineering (others) or equivalent.
  • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and foster effective relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading and mentoring a team.
  • Strong MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, and Visio.
  • Strong computer skills, including systems such as Sharepoint, Aconex, M-Files, etc
