Reporting to the responsible Design or Construction Manager, this role will support work within the Hamilton LRT project and will be responsible for planning and design of the temporary work structures during the current development phase, and also execution supervision during the early works or implementation phases in future.

 

The Hamilton LRT Alliance has been selected by Metrolinx as the development partner for the Hamilton LRT – Package 1: Civil & Utilities. Under the alliance model, Aecon provides construction capability and resources as part of an integrated team, working collaboratively with all alliance participants to progress design, cost, and construction schedules during the project’s development phase.

What You’ll Do Here:    

  • Work closely with project team to understand their needs and prepare design for temporary structures.
  • Collaborate with external engineers and internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics.
  • Material take off and generation of bill of materials, where necessary.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify any errors or discrepancies.
  • Design/plan and supervision all temporary works which may include support of excavation, shoring, bracing, formwork, falsework or scaffolding, retaining walls, protection structures, foundations for temporary structures such as hoarding, working platforms, hardstands, or any other concrete structures during construction.
  • Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
  • Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Post secondary education in an Engineering Civil discipline.
  • Professional engineer (P.Eng) required.
  • 7+ years experience in design of temporary structures and detailing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000

 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
