The Mechanical Planner will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed mechanical work plans to support safe, efficient, and compliant execution of work at Duke Energy McGuire Nuclear Station. This role is accountable for all pre‑execution planning activities, ensuring work packages are fully prepared, resources and materials are identified, and all planning prerequisites are met prior to execution.
The Mechanical Planner will support both online and outage work, working closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Construction to ensure work is planned in accordance with station procedures, regulatory requirements, and project schedules. This position will also support field execution through constructability reviews, plant walkdowns, coordination of equipment isolations, and continuous improvement of work planning strategies to support safe and timely completion of mechanical scope.
Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
What You'll Do Here:
• Navigate and work within MAXIMO and Asset Suite.
• Plan both Online and Outage work orders using MAXIMO and Asset Suite.
• Produce detailed mechanical work plans and instructions
• Prepare reports and history records in MAXIMO and Asset Suite.
• Order material in MAXIMO and Asset Suite
• Performs constructability reviews and mechanical system plant walkdowns.
• Evaluate the work environment to determine which support groups are required
• Attends internal and external meetings
• Provides guidance/input regarding mechanical work planning, execution and commissioning strategies.
• Coordinate with Operations to generate requests for equipment isolation.
What You Bring To The Team:
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
• Experience working in Asset Suite and MAXIMO for work management and planning activities
• Ability to meet the challenges of this dynamic role
• Ability to work with different work groups (Project Management,
• Engineering, Implementation and Duke Personnel)
• Planners must understand and be familiar with nuclear plant mechanical equipment and systems
• Planner is familiar with standard nuclear procedures and policies
• Experience supporting nuclear outage planning and execution, with a strong preference for outage projects
• Holds a Mechanical or Civil certification (or equivalent experience/education)
• A minimum of 5 years working a Nuclear Generation Station as Planner or Field Engineer (or equivalent)
Physical Demands:
- Various work locations in both field and office
- Walkdown of project sites and systems outside and inside of station are required to support workorder assessments
- Travel as necessary
