We are looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to be a part of a team of engineers and designers at our Charlotte, NC office working on modification packages. Candidate must complete complex engineering assignments including preparation of packages that include specifications and data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings; provide support to proposals, prepare purchase requisitions; review vendor drawings and develop cost and budget estimates and schedules and scope of work documents.

 

What You'll Do Here 

 

  • Prepare Engineering Change Packages including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages including digital upgrades
  • Prepare specifications for control of plant process/auxiliary systems 
  • Prepare and review logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of system control logic into plant control systems
  • Evaluate and specify pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation
  • Perform engineering calculations for a nuclear plant such as instrument set-points, electrical loading changes, etc.
  • Candidates will support multiple projects and support coordination of activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams.

 

What You Bring To The Team

 

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university 
  • 5 years overall experience in design, operations or field service/support for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
  • 3 years of experience relating to design of operating nuclear power plants in the U.S.   Familiarity with nuclear standard design process.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design and analysis.  Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards
  • Experience to include leading a team of engineers and technicians and training/mentoring junior staff
  • Good written and oral communication skills.  Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors and vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise using Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background checks.
  • Field experience at an operating nuclear plant
