Company & Position Overview

Faster.Smarter.Safer. This is how Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects.  As part of our Aecon Utilities sector, Aecon Technical Solutions Inc. (ATSI) employs highly trained technicians to deliver Telecom Fulfillment (including Installation, Networking and Multi-Dwelling Units) services for top-tier telecommunications clients across the U.S. This includes new installations, upgrades and service calls for commercial and residential locations.

 

ATSI is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead Telecommunication growth opportunities in the U.S. As a strategic contributor reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our Telecom fulfillment and installation services across the U.S. This position is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, fostering and maintaining strong client relationships, and driving revenue growth in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

The incumbent for this role will ideally be based in the Texas, Florida, Washington or Carolina markets with ability to travel across the U.S. as required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for leading strategic business development activities, formulating solutions to address customer challenges while also pursuing new lines of business and opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Develop and implement a strategy to grow and enhance ATSI’s footprint and Telecom Fulfillment capabilities in the U.S. market
  • Identify, evaluate, and lead strategic growth initiatives including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures (JV) by conducting market analysis, building financial models, and developing business cases that align with Aecon Utilities and company objectives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to assess risks, negotiate terms, and drive execution of deals that enhance competitive positioning and long-term value
  • Accountable for the development and execution of the annual business plan for ATSI U.S.
  • Establish and maintain effective contact with clients, including post award contact. Identify new work leads and manage lead follow-up
  • Negotiate with, or assist in negotiations with clients
  • Participate in the development of long-term strategy for Aecon Utilities in the U.S. market
  • Assist in the establishment and ensure compliance of operational short-term and long-term goals with overall organizational objectives
  • Influence, motivate and inform employees about the organizational strategy and progress

 

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven leadership, business development and operational experience in the Telecommunications industry in the U.S.
  • Experience in all areas of Telecom Fulfillment (Installation, Networking and Multi-Dwelling Units) is essential
  • Experience in successfully building and scaling a Telecom Fulfillment operation
  • Strong connections, relationships and professional presence in the industry with clients
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, public officials, team, peers and the general public
  • Strong understanding of the drivers in the industry in the U.S. (i.e. business trends, regulatory, economic, and political)
  • Experience in assessing and negotiating contracts
  • Commercial knowledge, solid understanding of the risks in contract terms
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a strategic mindset and problem-solving ability.
  • A strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
  • Ability to travel extensively across the U.S.
