Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety, the EHS Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the safety standards required by laws and regulations, the prevention program, and in accordance with the safety code for construction work.
The Arctic Over the Horizon Radar Program Stage 1 project in Ontario is a major federal initiative led by Defense Construction Canada and implemented by Canada's Department of National Defence, playing a critical role in strengthening national and continental defence. The project includes significant on-site and off-site material movement activities, extensive earthworks, deep and shallow foundation construction, structural concrete works, and the delivery of multiple buildings and supporting infrastructure.
As part of this program, Aecon’s Civil team is advancing Canada’s infrastructure through a strategic partnership with Pomerleau and Stantec. Delivered through a collaborative Integrated Project Delivery model, an Aecon-led joint venture is responsible for project delivery, supporting one of the most advanced radar systems in North America.

What You'll Do Here:
- Ensure compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to construction sites.
- Conduct daily inspections on site to ensure the safety and health of all.
- Immediately notify the emergency service in the event of an accident or emergency.
- Intervene when there is a risk of accident and ensure completion of accident investigations with existing personnel.
- Validate and maintain data accuracy for accident reports, ensuring timely and reliable reporting across the organization.
- See to the implementation and follow-up on recommendations following accident investigations.
- Compile statistics and report them monthly.
- Participate in all OSH meetings as required.
- Act as safety advisor to site managers.
- Cooperate with the various training organizations on site and within the company.
- Produce dashboards and reports using data from multiple sources to support Health & Safety performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Analyze trends, identify patterns, and develop insights from H&S data to support proactive risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for management, highlighting opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with field teams, supervisors, and Site Committees, to identify practical solutions and recommend strategies to enhance H&S performance and compliance.
- Support the development of data-driven initiatives that promote a strong safety culture and improve operational effectiveness.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- Certificate in Health and Safety Coordination, National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant industry experience.
- Experience providing Health and Safety support within a construction environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, Microsoft Forms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other digital tools used to support reporting and analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and proactively address challenges and opportunities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Available to work on site five (5) days per week.
- Willing and able to travel to various project locations as required, including Barrie, Kawartha, and Toronto.

The expected pay range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 per year.
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
