About Us
The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and SNC-Lavalin located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.
The Human Performance (Hu) Coordinator will report to the Hu Manager and will be responsible for implementing and actively monitoring and managing the projects Human Performance program together with the Safety team, Project Directors, Construction Manager and Supervisors to continuously improve human performance related to safety and quality of work.
What You'll Do Here
- Interface with project teams and the client to ensure alignment and continued engagement of the Human Performance Program
- Work closely with EHS and Quality teams on Hu matters as delegated by Manager
- Participate and cooperate with client oversight activities
- Assist in developing Hu procedures and reports, as well as a weekly and monthly communication
- Regularly engage project teams for improvement of observation and coaching (positive reinforcement and feedback to correct undesired behaviours) interactions
- Coordinate and execute self-assessments
- Manage & continuously improve the Hu Learning Series and associated material
- Assist in facilitating Human Performance training
- Trend and report on Human Performance data from observations and inspections, Event Free Day Resets and event investigations and identify Areas for Improvement (AFIs)
- Collecting and communicating operating experience (OPEX) related to EHS and Hu activities associated with the projects
- Lead by example as a Hu advocate and engage the Project teams with improvement initiatives to promote a continuous improvement culture
- Hu Coordinator will be expected to foster a learning culture that promotes working in partnership, innovation, and collaboration
- Proactively identify improvements for team processes and tools
- Take a consultative approach, have an openness to learn and change and work closely with the team to continuously improve the Hu Program and our ability to effectively support operations and our clients
- Communicates with project directors, supervisors/managers/trades to resolve issues/problems as they arise
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring To The Team
- Experience in construction and or industrial environment – trades, quality, safety is preferred
- Requires knowledge of business management, performance improvement, human behavior, adult learning, statistical and analytical concepts to effectively analyze existing practices and develop improvement strategies
- Requires experience in analyzing and assessing performance deficiencies and recommending, designing, and implementing mitigating solutions
- Demonstrated experience with Power BI reports and dashboards is considered an asset
- Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a business-related field
- Experience in the nuclear industry considered an asset
- Ability to quickly establish a credible relationship and interact effectively with the full spectrum of staff from skilled trades to senior management
- Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and follow through to implementation
- Classroom presentation/facilitation skills including classroom and practical instructional abilities
