What Is The Opportunity?

 

The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and Atkinsrealis located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.

 

The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has been awarded contracts for Unit 5, 7, and 8 for steam generator replacements as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project.

 

The Sr. Manager, Procurement and Materials, reporting to the Project Director and functionally to the Procurement Director, will be responsible for the receipt, recording, issuance tracking and planning of critical materials and equipment, and coordination and management of the purchase and receipt of commodities, equipment, and services for the Bruce Power Nuclear site. This role will require continuous communication with all project team members and will be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material handling and procurement methods.

 

What You’ll Do Here

  • To prepare the policies and strategies that will dictate project material management procedures
  • To prepare in collaboration with the Construction Manager the material management plans within the overall construction strategies and schedules
  • To establish, in collaboration with Quality Managers, the material control procedures
  • Participation as applicable in the establishment of the department budget and administer thereafter
  • To implement and supervise activities such as maintaining accurate and up to date status of materials and equipment for the upcoming work, forecast deliveries and action shortages
  • Provide Construction Manager with the availability of materials and equipment for upcoming work, forecast deliveries and action shortages
  • Ensure all material and equipment is properly handled, controlled, and maintained in accordance with project procedures, specifications and vendor requirements
  • Coordinate all materials handling, ensuring the availability of sufficient manpower and equipment
  • To ensure that sufficient qualified material control personnel are assigned to carry out the tasks as defined in the Material Control Plan
  • Expediting of Materials and Services in order to meet project schedules
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with both quality teams and TSSA
  • Oversee management and implementation of the procurement process ensuring adherence to applicable law, ethical practice and company policies and procedures
  • Manage the planning, procurement and movement of materials, as well as the award and administration of major subcontracts
  • Establish scalable processes to respond to requests from estimators and construction/ operations in obtaining quotations for tenders and projects
  • Provide direction and mentor a team of buyers
  • Review and approve purchase orders including all related documentation for compliance to the projects Quality program
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining project suppliers on the Aecon Approved suppliers list (ASL) working closely with the Aecon Quality Assurance team
  • Develop Procurement Plans and ensure all relevant stakeholders are educated on the key aspects of the plan
  • Responsible for participation in both external and internal audits including resolving and corrective actions as a result of the audit
  • Review of purchase requisitions and related documentation to ensure clarity and completeness with the description of materials, components or equipment, quantity, adherence to quality assurance requirements, proper authorization of funding, delivery requirements, and desired mode of transportation
  • Negotiation or providing assistance with the negotiation for major contracts of best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting the supply of material or components
  • Experience managing a team and management of procurement and material handling
  • Overseeing and managing logistics
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring To The Team

  • College Diploma in Supply Chain and Operations Management or a University Degree in a related discipline
  • Certified Supply Chain Management
  • Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education an asset
  • 10+ years of related experience, with engineering, construction, materials management and logistics considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
  • Strong skills in MS Excel required
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and SAP applications an asset
  • Ability to identify Construction Materials and consumables
  • Knowledge of ASME Section III DIV I, N285, N286 codes and standards is an asset

Reason for vacancy: New role

 

Salary range: $110,000- $150,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
