What is the Opportunity?
Aecon’s Civil East sector is a cornerstone of our construction and infrastructure operations, delivering innovative solutions to some of the most complex and impactful projects globally. Renowned for its expertise in heavy civil construction, our Civil East sector specializes in building essential infrastructure that powers economies and enhances communities.
Our portfolio features cutting-edge work on bridges, highways, tunnels, and airports to name a few! In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to join our international team. Based in Anguilla, this role focuses on scheduling, directing teams, managing project profitability and ensuring quality control.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Plans and implements a construction program, including defining the project plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements
- Accountable for ensuring all project execution resources have received the required training
- Directly responsible for the profit and loss of projects and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and with high quality standards
- Supports in preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, advanced/construction work pack correlation, modularization, and system handover strategies etc.
- Advises on construction related activities relating to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
- Provides input to procurement activities including validation of material specifications, preparation of purchase requisitions, material tracking and ensuring traceability of materials when installed in the field
- Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures
- Oversee the day to day, on site operations while upholding high safety standards, EHS policies and overseeing the maintenance of traffic, environmental compliance, and stormwater control
- Work in conjunction with the larger project team to deliver the project successfully
- Establish strategies and create solutions to ensure that contract milestones are met
- Review and advise on tenders during the bidding process
- Oversee field quality control and assist in the creation of risk mitigation strategies and implement where necessary to reduce or eliminate penalties
- Coordinate with public project owners to comply with local agency and environmental issues and requirements
- Represent Aecon and the project with the Client Representative in a professional manner and provide updates
- Develop strong understanding of the applicable scope with knowledge of the work that is contracted and agreed upon between Aecon and the client
- Identify requests outside of contracted scope and raise any change management issues
- Create a detailed look-ahead schedule ensuring proper staffing, materials and equipment are available when required
- Responsible for all site execution matters, including the timely performance of the work
- Liaise with necessary subcontractors, union representatives and regulatory bodies//engineering staff to ensure integration of all tooling designs
What You Bring to the Team:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction experience and subcontractor supervision
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working on airport, runway or airfield construction projects
- Strong knowledge of earthworks, pavement systems, drainage, and airside utilities.
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as asphalt production, technology, equipment, quality control, project management, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of trades performed work, estimating and employee relations required
