Business Analyst - Telematics

Purpose of the Position
The successful incumbent will be a key member of the project team working on the development and implementation of a Telematics system at Aecon. Post-implementation, the focus of this role will shift to the development and maintenance of Telematics data, dashboards, KPIs and predictive analytics in support of improving operational fleet efficiency, utilization and productivity.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical and analytical capability, as well as experience and knowledge in construction operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Key member of the project team accountable for the development, setup and implementation of a Telematics system across several Aecon divisions.
•    Accountable for the design, development and ongoing monitoring of KPIs, productivity reports, dashboards and predictive analytics to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
•    “Makes sense of the data” in a way that can be read, understood and actioned by Operations teams.
•    Conduct detailed analysis of Telematics data to identify anomalies and patterns and make recommendations for outcomes.
•    Utilizes Telematics data to anticipate gaps, identify unknowns and develop solutions. 
•    Maintain the quality, accuracy and consistency of the Telematics system configuration and data.
•    Responsible for the creation, maintenance, review and improvement of processes and training documentation.
•    Work collaboratively with the Operations, Fleet and AeconONE teams to understand business requirements and develop best practices and processes as it relates to Telematics.
•    Champion continuous improvement of Telematics systems and processes across operational divisions.
•    Participate in the planning and implementation of future system enhancements. 
•    Provide practical assistance and technical support to operations, as necessary, in support of the successful execution of the Telematics system.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills
•    Post-secondary education coupled with a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience. 
•    Experience in construction operations, with a solid understanding of equipment and fleet requirements, including tracking, production, utilization, etc.
•    Strong computer skills – MS Office, SAP and Power BI Applications.
•    Strong ability to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
•    Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
•    Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills.
•    Experience with Telematics / Fleet Management systems is an asset.
•    Experience developing dashboards, KPIs and analytics in support of business operational excellence.
•    Ability to foster a cooperative environment between different operational groups and functions.
•    Ability to see a task from conception to implementation.
•    Ability to work independently, accurately and under pressure.
•    Willingness to travel as required.

•    May supervise an entry-level level role in future.
