Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Mechanic will be responsible for carrying out skilled journeyman level work. Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation/dismantling of systems and projects within the trade, and troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairs of construction equipment.
 

Location: Milton, Ontario

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Workplace Safety, Environmental Policies and Regulations are being adhered to.
  • Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals for work procedures.
  • Maintain and service a fleet of trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain and service a fleet of construction equipment.
  • Able to perform services on electrical, hydraulic, power train, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery parts in a safe manner.
  • Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment.
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with machine to identify fault codes.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced, or apprentice maintenance personnel.
  • Performing hands on maintenance and repairs of all equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubles.
  • Making repairs per the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Utilize computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes.
  • Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Valid G license required; a valid DZ license is considered an asset.
  • Truck and Coach Service License (310T) required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Excellent mechanical knowledge
  • High school graduate asset
