Shop Supervisor

Under the general supervision of the General Manager, Fleet- Utilities, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for management of supply, repair and maintenance of equipment used to support field activities at one or more facilities/work sites. Overseeing the Utilities Fleet operation and ensuring all Health and Safety protocols are adhered to.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a staff of unionized licensed technicians, apprentices, and Fleet support staff.
  • Coding and Approval of technician’s timesheets and work requisitions, coordinating vacation leave.
  • Supervise and coordinate all daily work processes working with Technicians & Operations to prioritize repairs, as not to hinder company productivity.
  • Coordinate offsite subcontractors for repairs, safety certifications.
  • Coordinating transportation logistics of vehicles/equipment to site with Operations.
  • Coordinate & dispatch road technicians for repairs of onsite vehicles/equipment.
  • Coordinate and secure rental vehicles/equipment when required.
  • Maintain communication with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and services.
  • Oversee ordering parts and materials for Shop, maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years with Valid Certification of Qualification as a 310T Licensed Mechanic or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in a high-level Shop Supervisory role overseeing large fleet.
  • Knowledge of all types vehicles/equipment within a Utilities fleet, such as directional drills, hydro-vac trucks, aerial bucket trucks, excavators, backhoes, trailers and various sizes and configurations of trucks.
  • Superior communication skills both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
