Reporting to the Corporate Affairs Director, the Communications Specialist will support with project communications and community engagement while maintaining strong client relationships. This role will help execute approved communication, engagement, issues management, and media strategies, and bring strong media relationships, experience with elected officials, and proven communications expertise on large infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Support the Communications and Public Engagement Lead, project team and client on a broad range of initiatives with a focus on external communications and community relations.
- Draft communications materials on behalf of the project, including construction notices, key messages, event summaries, resident correspondence, presentation decks and agendas/minutes.
- Craft memorandums, town hall decks, promotional materials, and social media content including photo captures and video management/production.
- Develop and produce compelling stories for external communications, including website articles, social, digital, and traditional media.
- Record and track stakeholder inquiries and public complaints, and support crisis and emergency preparedness initiatives when required.
- Support the team in coordinating correspondences with residents and stakeholders, including canvassing, property access, and inspections.
- Coordinate, attend, and document external meetings, public engagements, and pop-up events with the client, public, and government officials.
- Administrative tasks as required, including managing SharePoint, document submittals, and coordinating inventory.
What You Bring to the Team:
- University degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, digital media or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience, with infrastructure experience considered an asset.
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva considered an asset.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Strong written/oral communications skills.
- Highly organized with demonstrated ability to plan and execute multiple priorities with tight deadlines and meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work individually or within a team environment and be receptive to direction.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a team-first attitude and strong work-ethic.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Security Clearance and Background Checks Required.
Reason for vacancy: Replacement
Pay Range: $80,000-$90,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
