We have an immediate need for a Field Engineer with tunnel experience to join our exciting and transformative advance tunnel project in the GTA.


What You’ll Do Here:

  • Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees and sub-contractors in compliance with WECC’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation
  • Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs and mentorship with crew
  • Provide technical support to Superintendent TBM for TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) and SEM (Sequence excavation method) crews ensure compliance with all assignments, project policies and procedures
  • Assist in driving, quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews
  • Work with the Foremen on productivity issues and monitor the work performance, working with the Foreman and crews to overcome challenges
  • Assist the Foreman to translate drawings, specifications, and work requirements into a prioritized work plan
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work, support to supervise the plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirect crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on sites
  • Contribute to the development of a construction plan
  • Work with the Superintendent to identify equipment and labour resource requirements
  • Ensure work completed meets quality standards and completion of HSE inspections and reports
  • Record and report of violations or disciplinary actions
  • Review Foreman records and track all rental items, ensure returns are completed and documented
  • Responsible for Project specific forms/inspections/tracking as required
  • Document reporting of and maintaining in good repair all company owned and rented tools, equipment, and assets


What You Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in field engineering
  • Degree in Civil/Mining Engineer is preferred
  • Previous experience in GTA tunnelling projects preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of the applicable OH&S legislation
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient Computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work night shifts or rotational shifts and occasional weekends as required
  • Flexibility is needed
