Position Title:  Bilingual - Sr. Communications Specialist

Position Overview

Are you a communications professional with experience working in a predominantly French-speaking environment? Are you a bilingual, enthusiastic, resourceful, and hyper-organized team player with strong writing skills? Do you have a passion for dynamic and strategic communications? We’re looking for a Communications Specialist to build our brand and lead our public relations, marketing, and communications portfolio as a key member of our growing team in Montreal, Quebec. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Quebec team on a broad range of communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Lead the execution of Aecon’s reputation building and marketing strategy in collaboration with cross-functional working group. 
  • Craft communications and marketing materials including news releases, articles, letters, speeches, social media content, advertisements and contribute to publications. 
  • Provide communications expertise for project pursuits, develop dynamic presentations and business development materials. 
  • Identify and evaluate PR and marketing opportunities, prepare key messages, marketing collateral and staff media events.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Affairs team to ensure continuous maintenance, relevancy and augmentation of Aecon’s French corporate website and digital assets.
  • Foster relationships with Quebec media and build strategic partnerships with industry associations and community organizations. 
  • Research and curate provincial industry media coverage and social listening reports. 
  • Plan and execute Aecon’s social media strategy and campaigns with a Quebec lens. 
  • Capture compelling stories and company or project-related news to be communicated on a broad variety of platforms including publications, social, digital, and traditional media.
  • Respond to stakeholder inquires, attend client working group meetings and support crisis and emergency preparedness initiatives as required.
  • Manage Quebec-focused public inquiries and issues while applying a super positive, agile customer service approach.


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • University degree paired with a communications post-graduate certificate, or a diploma in communications/public relations or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive intermediate level experience in the public relations/communications field. 
  • Predominantly French-speaking and bilingual. 
  • Exceptional written/oral communications skills, media relations savvy and storytelling ability. 
  • Passion for effective and powerful public relations, marketing, and external communications campaigns. 
  • Established relationships with Quebec media, industry associations and organizations.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to plan and execute multiple priorities with tight deadlines and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships and responsibly handle confidential information.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work within a team environment and be receptive to direction. 
  • Thorough grasp of the Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Working knowledge of the construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors an asset.  
  • Proficiency with Adobe suite an asset.
