What Is the Opportunity? 
 

We are a trusted provider of end-to-end integrated Urban Transportation Solutions. From Light Rail Transit (LRT) to subways and commuter rail systems, Aecon’s expansive resources for planning, engineering, procuring, building and commissioning large-scale infrastructure projects means we can handle all aspects of a transit project, from conception through operation.

 

We are seeking an experienced Document Control Manager to lead document management activities for a major rail transit project in Quebec. This role is critical in ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best practices in document control across all phases of the project. Candidates must be local to Quebec City or willing to relocate.

 

What You Will Do Here:

  • Develop and enforce document control guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Implement a document management team and system aligned with organizational needs, including project initiation for multiple projects.
  • Define and implement tools, systems, policies, and procedures for effective document control.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for document control with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish best practices and drive continuous improvement in document management.
  • Develop and implement work processes such as Operations & Maintenance Document Review Control, Design/Engineering Document Review Control, Correspondence Control, Contract/Vendor Data Management, Standards Management, and Project Standards and Document Numbering
  • Design and implement detailed work instructions to support approved procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance of all document management equipment (hardware, software, etc.).
  • Manage department budget and headcount.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Set up hard copy filing systems with wet signatures if required.
  • Champion improved document workflows to reduce timelines.
  • Foster an inclusive culture that promotes equity, welcomes diverse perspectives, and supports career progression.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in document control within a construction project/site environment, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in all aspects of document control (design, implementation, management), including systems, processes, procedures, and software tools.
  • Ability to define program objectives and develop standards/procedures for diverse engineering and construction document management activities.
  • Experience in fast-paced, startup project environments with tight timelines.
  • Knowledge of rail engineering, operations, and maintenance terminology (asset).
  • Proficiency in computerized Document Management applications/EDMS (e.g., Aconex, SharePoint).
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion and diversity.
  • Bilingual in French and English is required.
  • Must be local to Quebec City or willing to relocate.
