Key Responsibilities

Act as the Health & Safety subject-matter expert on site, supporting the Project Management team in all H&S matters.

Implement, monitor, and enforce the Project Health & Safety Program in compliance with CNESST regulations, contractual requirements, and corporate standards.

Identify, assess, and control critical risks associated with heavy civil and port construction activities (marine works, lifting operations, excavation, traffic management, equipment interaction, subcontractor co-activity).

Conduct daily site inspections, safety audits, and behavioral observations, ensuring timely follow-up on corrective actions.

Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures.

Facilitate and coordinate toolbox talks, safety meetings, training sessions, and site orientations for employees and subcontractors.

Maintain a strong visible field presence to actively promote a “zero incident” safety culture.

Work closely with construction, engineering, planning, and subcontractor teams to integrate H&S into work planning and execution.

Prepare and maintain H&S reports, statistics, and KPIs for project and corporate reporting.

Serve as a mentor and coach to junior H&S advisors when required.

Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and support compliance during inspections or audits.
Required Qualifications

7–10 years of experience in Health & Safety on major construction projects, preferably in heavy civil, infrastructure, port, marine, or industrial environments.

Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

Strong working knowledge of Québec H&S legislation (CNESST) and construction site regulations.

Proven experience working in complex, multi-contractor construction environments.

Valid and relevant H&S certifications (ASP Construction, First Aid, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Spaces, etc.).

Strong field leadership, ability to influence, sound judgment, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

French required; functional English considered an asset.

Availability to work full-time on site.
