What Is the Opportunity?
We are looking for a Counsel to join our growing U.S. legal team. You will be reporting to the Director, Operations Legal – U.S. Nuclear. This role will be based out of Aecon’s Mount Laurel, NJ office.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Support Aecon’s U.S. Nuclear and Engineering Services business lines in negotiating project contracts, subcontracts and other commercial agreements
- Advise project teams and business line management on legal implications of business decisions
- Provide counsel to bid and proposal teams on commercial risks and mitigations, and navigating
- Assist project teams in anticipating, making, and responding to commercial claims arising during the performance of work
- Work with and manage outside counsel where appropriate
- Occasional travel to other Aecon offices and project sites as needed
What you Bring to The Team
- JD and admitted to practice law in at least one state, and ability to qualify for New Jersey in-house counsel licensure
- 4+ years of relevant commercial legal experience following bar admission, with at least 2 years of law firm experience
- The preferred candidate will have experience with construction law, commercial litigation, and contracts law.
- Experience and knowledge of the construction industry and/or experience with construction contracts is an asset
- Experience with U.S. export control regulations (including 10 CFR Part 810) and/or federal government contracts is an asset
