What is the Opportunity?
We are looking for a Counsel to join our growing U.S. legal team. You will be reporting to the Associate General Counsel for U.S. Operations. This role will be based out of Aecon’s Mount Laurel, NJ office.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Support Aecon’s U.S. operations (including its Nuclear, Industrial and Engineering Services business lines) in negotiating project contracts, subcontracts and other commercial agreements
- Advise project teams and business line management on legal implications of business decisions
- Provide counsel to bid and proposal teams on commercial risks and mitigations, and navigating
- Assist project teams in anticipating, making, and responding to commercial claims arising during the performance of work
- Work with and manage outside counsel where appropriate
- Occasional travel to other Aecon offices and project sites as needed
What You Bring to The Team
- JD and admitted to practice law in at least one state, and ability to qualify for New Jersey in-house counsel licensure
- 4+ years of relevant commercial legal experience following bar admission, with at least 2 years of law firm experience and at least 2 years of experience in-house with a construction company.
- The preferred candidate will have experience with construction law, commercial litigation, and contracts law.
- Experience with U.S. export control regulations (including 10 CFR Part 810) and/or federal government contracts is an asset
Pay and Benefits:
Pay Range: $150,000-$175,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
