What is the Opportunity? 

Reporting to the Project Controls Director, the Senior Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for providing project controls support to Aecon’s ongoing mega-projects in the Nuclear sector. 

 

Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements. 

 

 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Complete all roles & responsibilities expected of a Project Controls Specialist

 

  • Assist in developing, establishing, and maintaining the project's cost management systems

 

  • Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings

 

  • Provide mentorship & guidance to junior team members

 

  • Provide subject-matter expertise to project team on any customized reporting tools & dashboards

 

  • Assist in monitoring project health & performance; ensure key performance metrics are well articulated to project leadership

 

  • Regularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project  leadership on adverse trends

 

  •  Support the implementation of an Earned Value Management plan to measure project performance, identify variances, and inform accurate forecasting

 

  •  Support the development of project-specific Project Controls plans, and the development of tools & templates

 

  • Assist with the development & implementation of a project-specific change management plan, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon's standardsRegularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project leadership on adverse trends.

 

  • Regularly conduct detailed labor rate analysis to gauge impact of economic factors & actualize cost multiplier assumptions; update forecasts accordingly Assist in the creation & maintenance of tools & templates that ensure compliance with the processes outlined Project Controls plan & contract requirements.

 

  • Develop fragnets to be carried out throughout the project lifecycle, across the different phases for use on similar scopes

 

  • Lead meetings focused on assessing schedule progress, obtaining schedule updates & general schedule coordination Review the contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions regarding reporting, change management, and all other Project Controls areas.

 

  • Perform regular field tours to validate progress

 

  • Assist in the development of a project-specific Schedule Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls Plan

 

  • Identify & lead rebaseline efforts when required

 

  • Develop & maintain basis of schedule documenting all assumptions & parameters underpinning the baseline schedule.

 

  • Develop fragnets to be carried out throughout the project lifecycle, across the different phases for use on similar scopes

 

  • Lead meetings focused on assessing schedule progress, obtaining schedule updates & general schedule coordination

 

  • Perform regular field tours to validate progress

 

  • Assist in the development of a project-specific Schedule Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls Plan

 

  • Identify & lead rebaseline efforts when required

 

  • Manage the integration of subcontractor schedules (if applicable); review for schedule quality; assess progress and provide feedback to project

 

  • Administer Aecon's P6 database; control access to maintain data integrity, set standards in collaboration with other sectors

 

  • Establish and ensure a set cadence for the importing of back-up copies of project schedules managed in the client's P6 environment

 

  •  Assist in the development of a project-specific Risk Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls Plan

 

  • Collaborate on early identification & assessment of critical project issues and risks, and suggested corrective actions

 

  • Facilitate periodic project review meetings as the key liaison representing the Project Controls team leadership Proactively identify schedule variances, logic gaps etc.; facilitate the development of recovery plans & other remedial action plans.

Salary Range & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually
