Project Coordinator [New to Nuclear] 

Aecon is delivering some of Canada’s most complex and safety-critical infrastructure projects as part of the nuclear life-extension and refurbishment program.  

 

What is the Opportunity? 

We are seeking Project Coordinators with strong planning, coordination, and execution experience gained in complex, highly regulated, or technically demanding environments.

 

This is a unique opportunity to apply your transferable skills to major capital infrastructure programs while contributing to work that supports the long‑term reliability of Canada’s clean‑energy supply.

New to Nuclear? Direct nuclear experience is not required. Experienced professionals with strong backgrounds in automotive, manufacturing,  or other similarly regulated environments will be supported through structured onboarding and training, and are strongly encouraged to apply. 

 

What You'll Do Here: 

Reporting to the Project Manager or Area Manager, the Project Coordinator will support the successful delivery of assigned project scopes by: 

 

  • Coordinating project schedules, milestones, and deliverables across engineering, construction, quality, safety, and procurement 

  • Tracking progress, risks, action items, and dependencies; escalating issues as required 

  • Supporting development and maintenance of work packages, plans, and execution documentation 

  • Coordinating procurement activities, including material readiness, tracking, and documentation 

  • Preparing project reports, dashboards, meeting minutes, and presentations for internal and client stakeholders 

  • Supporting field execution activities, including readiness, shift reporting, and close‑out documentation 

  • Assisting with project controls, cost tracking, and change management 

  • Promoting a strong safety culture and adherence to quality and regulatory requirements 

 

Skills & Experience That Transfer Well to Nuclear 

  • Program or project coordination supporting engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams 

  • Experience with structured schedules, milestones, and change control 

  • Managing documentation, configuration, and compliance in regulated environments 

  • Reporting project performance, risks, and KPIs to senior stakeholders 

  • Coordinating multi-trade or multidiscipline project scopes 

  • Supporting CAPEX projects, plant upgrades, shutdowns, or complex installations 

  • Managing schedules, materials, vendors, and deliverables in safety-critical environments 

  • Working within formal quality, safety, and procedural frameworks 

 

What You Bring to the Table: 

  • 3-5+ years of experience supporting technically complex projects, processes, or programs, including schedule integration, document control and records management, reporting, and cross‑functional stakeholder coordination across multidisciplinary teams  

  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing or similarly regulated / safety-critical  environments

  • Process-driven with a strong organization and prioritization skills, with experience navigating multiple stakeholders and dependencies 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 

  • Experience using project scheduling, tracking using commercial or in‑house project management systems, or enterprise project control systems is an asset; ability to quickly learn new tools and systems as required 

  • Postsecondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Business, or other technical related fields) 

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance for work on nuclear projects

Pay Range: $70 - 90K CAD

 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
