What You’ll Do Here:
- Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, subcontractors, and consultants in compliance with provincial occupational health and safety legislation.
- Promote safety in all activities and participate in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs, and crew mentorship.
- Oversee daily on-site construction activities and approve daily production records while reporting on project progress.
- Provide senior field leadership for major hydroelectric and heavy civil construction activities.
- Ensure construction activities comply with design requirements.
- Track and report project quality control, resource requirements, and customer or labour relations.
- Ensure project materials and workmanship meet established quality standards.
- Ensure Superintendent(s) comply with all assignments, project policies, and procedures.
- Support Superintendent(s) on productivity issues and monitor work performance, collaborating with Foremen and crews to overcome challenges.
- Follow project plans and budgets while ensuring Superintendent(s), Foremen, and crews meet production goals.
- Translate drawings, specifications, and work requirements into prioritized execution plans.
- Understand the scope and sequencing of work for complex hydroelectric and heavy civil construction projects, plan and prioritize activities, effectively redirect crews and equipment, and minimize downtime on site.
- Contribute to the development and execution of construction plans.
- Work closely with the Construction Manager to identify equipment and labour resource requirements and periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules, and budgets.
- Provide guidance to team members through safety meetings and site inspections.
- This role may require lifting, carrying, or moving materials up to 50 lbs on occasion.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in hydroelectric, heavy civil, or major infrastructure construction projects.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary operations teams including Superintendents, Foremen, Project Coordinators, Field Engineers, and unionized craft employees.
- Demonstrated experience working on large-scale construction projects in complex and fast-paced environments.
- Ability to identify constructability issues in moderately complex situations and develop practical solutions within construction plans and schedules.
- Strong ability to promote safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
- Experience managing work within a self-performing construction environment.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable OH&S legislation.
- Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
