What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Safety Director the Field Safety Representative will be responsible to actively promote a health and safety culture to all field employees through training and implementation of Xtreme’s Health and Safety policies and procedures. The Safety Advisor will conduct in field crew and worker inspections and will be required to travel daily.
What You'll Do Here:
- Conduct safety orientation to workers
- Support the training of field workers on Xtreme work policies and procedures.
- Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, etc.
- Conduct in field inspections and audits.
- Conduct behavioral observation in the field.
- Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection etc.
- Distribution of safety material, supplies and equipment.
- Participate as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Inspect project / job sites and recommend corrective actions when required.
- Support Accident / Incident Response and Investigations.
- Assist in safety lead, group logistics, or on-boarding while on Emergency Response (Storm).
- Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- A minimum of 3 years working experience in an EHS / Safety Advisor role is an asset.
- Experience in construction health and safety
- Familiar with construction terminology
- Electrical Work Knowledge is an asset
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Background in Training and / or Education and or experience delivering Safety Training programs to individuals and groups is an asset
- Valid Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Daily travel is required
- Variety of job site conditions
- Ability to communicate Effectively
- Ability to collaborate – work cooperatively with others across the organization
