Position Title: Senior Electrical Estimator

Xtreme Powerline Construction Inc is a Michigan-based electrical distribution utility contractor looking to diversify into new work streams and expand the local footprint into new States.
Xtreme Powerline Construction has partnered with Aecon Utilities Inc. in large scale engineering, procurement and construction solutions for customers across the US and Canada. The service offering includes substations, battery energy storage plants / facilities, power line installations and the integration of these solutions to the overall power grids.
What is the Opportunity?
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Electrical Estimator with a strong background in high-voltage substations and related electrical infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and detailed cost estimates for substation construction and upgrade projects.
This position is an in-person role based out of our office in Port Huron, Michigan.
What You’ll Do Here:

Prepare detailed estimates for substation projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.

Analyze project drawings, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.

Review and interpret electrical and civil drawings related to substations, including one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and general arrangements.

Lead quantity takeoffs and pricing efforts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including project managers, engineers, and procurement to validate cost data and construction methods.

Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for scope compliance and cost competitiveness.

Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and risk reviews as required. Review project site prior to price preparation.

Support the preparation of bid proposals, budgets, and schedules.

Accountable for accuracy and completeness of submissions.

Conducts Bid Closing and Bid Handover meetings, and job set-ups as required.

Prepares recommendations for award of Subcontracts.

Ensures the distribution of documentation appropriately upon award.

Supports Scope Change development as required.

Provides technical support to field staff as appropriate.

Assists with Prequalification, RFQ and RFI submissions as required.
What You Bring to the Team:

Diploma / Degree / Trade Certification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 7 + years of estimating experience with at least 5 years focused on substations (69kV – 500kV).

Strong understanding of substation design, construction practices, and utility standards.

Proficiency in estimating software.

Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and contract specifications.

ECI / Design-build / EPC experience an asset.

Engineering experience or equivalent technical knowledge in the renewable energy industry an asset.

Knowledge of contract language / Terms and Conditions / Surety etc.

Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and accounting / reporting an asset.

Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.

Strong computer skills – estimating software, MS Excel / Word / MS Outlook, MS Teams.

Ability to work accurately, effectively under pressure. Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines, working independently with minimal supervision, and with others as a team.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.

Professional designation an asset (P.Eng., C.E.T., CTech).
