ATSI, a key business unit within Aecon Utilities, delivers large-scale telecommunications infrastructure programs, providing end-to-end installation, maintenance, sales, and customer-focused service solutions. Through reliable, high-quality execution across diverse technologies and markets, ATSI plays a critical role in keeping people and businesses connected while supporting the evolution of essential infrastructure.

Reporting to the Field Services Manager, the General Laborer will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of general and specific project requirements.


What You'll Do Here:
  • Move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation, and compaction activities.
  • Prepare and clean up construction sites.
  • Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g., load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction materials; move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris).
  • Excavate, backfill, and compact subgrade (e.g., move and level earth using shovels and rakes).
  • Pull and/or fish cables through conduits.
  • Be comfortable working at heights with ladders or bucket trucks (training will be provided).
  • Be comfortable working with hand tools (drills, grinders, etc.).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
 
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Experience working in a similar role within the industry.
  • A team player who actively contributes to the group to complete tasks, meet goals, or manage project timelines.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract annually.
  • Capacity to lift and work with materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
  • Capacity to work long hours per day in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Hands-on Training and Orientation
  • An introduction to Aecon, our industry, and telecommunication work.
  • All requisite health and safety training.
  • Valuable job-specific skills training.
  • Preparing for work on site and job readiness training.

The expected pay range for this role is $22 - $24 per hour.

 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
