Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Controls we are looking for a Project Controls Specialist to support our work across the United States.  Please note this is an in office position based in Salt Lake City, UT, with short term travel required to active projects across the United States.

 

What You'll Do Here:

Project Controls Systems & Tools

  • Collaborate with estimating and execution teams to establish project controls frameworks and ensure systems are effectively implemented and consistently utilized across the project
  • Lead the implementation and use of project controls tools to manage cost, earned value, cash flow, revenue, forecasting, and schedule performance

Project Setup

  • Participate in project handover and kick‑off meetings, ensuring commercial and controls requirements are clearly defined from day one
  • Assist with project setup, including WBS structure, cost loading, and cash flow planning

Scheduling

  • Ensure on site execution team is accurately reflecting scope changes, approved change orders, and potential claims in the schedule
  • Evaluate commodity curves and resource curves from the schedule to support cost and revenue forecasting, manpower planning, and productivity analysis

Progress & Cost Tracking

  • Generate all required project status and forecast reporting for management and client requirements
  • Review and analyze reporting (ie progress, productivity, scheduling, costs, revenues, margin) with Lead or Manager as well as the project team, suggesting corrective actions to maintain expected performance and productivity
  • Support the development and implementation of the project cost structure, ensuring it is aligned with company standards and enables accurate KPI tracking and performance reporting
  • Review and update project cash flows as required throughout the project life-cycle

Scope, Change & Claims Support

  • Working with Project Manager’s to identify, develop, and advance change events and claims with the client
  • Ensure all approved and potential changes are properly captured in the cost forecast, EAC, cash flow, and schedule
  • Review and support the development of change notices and change requests, working with the project management team to align on strategy and positioning

Risk Management

  • Contribute to project risk registers and risk mitigation planning

People Leadership

  • Support the ongoing development of project controls capability within the team through knowledge sharing, coaching, and consistent application of best practices
  • Create an environment where team members feel supported, accountable, and empowered to contribute to project outcomes
  • Work with Project Managers and Operations to ensure project controls staff are effectively integrated into project teams and adding value

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Post secondary education in construction management, engineering technologist, or EIT. 
  • 3-5 years of direct project controls experience.
  • Construction experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with project schedules, curves, and performance reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Clear, confident communicator who can explain issues and trends to technical and non technical audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP, Primavera, and Hard Dollar, or similar project controls systems is an asset
