What is the Opportunity?
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project based in Scarborough, Aecon is looking for a qualified Finance Manager to join our team.
What You Will Do Here:
- Lead and oversee the Client-specific cost reconciliation process in accordance with the Project Agreement.
- Partner with the Cost Control Manager to resolve unreconciled cost items in a timely manner.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance reconciliation workflows, financial efficiency, and project profitability.
- Support core finance functions including financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and treasury.
- Implement and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard financial operations.
- Conduct cost reviews and validate project forecasts in collaboration with the Project Management Team.
- Manage project cash flows to ensure liquidity and financial health.
- Prepare and submit local financial reports as required.
- Work closely with the Project Accounting Manager to ensure accurate and complete month-end financials.
- Perform monthly variance analysis and ad-hoc financial assessments to support decision-making.
- Lead quarterly Client audits to ensure contractual and financial compliance.
- Maintain the Project Asset Registry and Financial Securities Database.
- Supervise fleet coordination.

- CPA or equivalent accounting designation with 7+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally in the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
- Proven experience managing large-scale projects.
- Proficiency in SAP is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with subcontracts, purchase agreements, and performance securities.
- Solid understanding of procurement and cost control processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
