What Is The Opportunity?
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project based in Scarborough, Aecon is looking for a qualified Superintendent to join our team.
What You'll Do Here:
- Champion a Safety‑First culture, ensuring all work complies with Aecon’s Environmental Health & Safety Program and provincial OH&S legislation.
- Lead and promote safe work practices through planning, hazard assessments, FLRAs, mentorship, safety meetings, and site inspections.
- Support daily project execution by coordinating crews, guiding Foremen, and translating plans, drawings, and specifications into clear work activities and priorities.
- Monitor productivity and quality, proactively addressing challenges to maintain schedules, budgets, and production targets.
- Coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors to ensure efficient site access and timely project delivery.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to determine labour and equipment needs and reassess daily goals.
- Oversee and approve daily production reporting, including quality control checklists, HSE documentation, disciplinary records, and equipment tracking.
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of field logs and project‑specific forms.
- Maintain a safe work environment on-site by actively overseeing subcontractors safety performance; reviewing and approving subcontractors' means and methods and safety documentation; ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations, legislation, and STC safety policies; and proactively identifying and correcting unsafe conditions or practices.
- This role supports the Scarborough Transit Connect project and requires full‑time, on‑site presence at 140 Grangeway Ave, Toronto.
- This role may require lifting, carrying, or moving materials up to 50 lbs on occasion.

What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry.

Strong technical foundation, bringing proven experience from heavy civil based projects.
- Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must have a valid Drivers License.
- Ability to work the project schedule which may include overtime, weekends and/or night shift when required.

The expected pay range for this role is $90,000 - $130,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
