Our Energy operations consist of natural gas gathering systems, distribution services maintenance, facilities construction, and water distribution. Gas distribution is the largest segment in the pipeline distribution portfolio, offering network design and construction or rehabilitation services for gas networks across Canada and the United States.

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Foreperson will be responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on schedule in compliance with the contract and job cost estimate, and that all work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.


Please note that this position is unionized, therefore it will be a requirement to join the union upon acceptance.

 
What You'll Do Here:
  • Responsible for, or assists the Superintendent in, the overall planning and scheduling to ensure that the project is constructed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor the overall progress of the project and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Coordinate and monitor the three main functions: Administration, Engineering, and Construction.
  • Represent the Company with the owner.
  • Ensure that the Superintendent is advised of all extra work and claims before work has started.
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring the Company’s Safety and Environment Policies and QC Plans.
  • Facilitate a safe work culture, be accountable for the safety of the crew, and understand the legal liability of the role; ensuring crew members apply the standards for safe working conditions and are fit for work each day.
  • Ensure that all functions and operations on the job follow local legislative requirements.
  • Direct and maintain discipline and morale of the project staff.
  • Ensure that Company policies and project procedures are adhered to.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure new crew members are oriented to the job.
  • Assess competency and capability of tradespersons, evaluate crew capability, and benchmark against others to ensure the crew meets required levels of quality.
  • Communicate the job to and with the crew.
  • Assign individual and crew tasks.
  • Identify additional training needs for the crew and advise the Superintendent.
  • Set and maintain work standards and outline behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity.
  • Promote, support, and facilitate teamwork and harmony between all construction crews by fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all project crews, regardless of craft makeup.
  • Perform physical duties including walking, lifting, and operating equipment.
  • Understand construction drawings and mark them up as required.
  • Keep daily notes and diaries as required.
  • Use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.
  • Work long hours per day in inclement weather conditions if required.
 
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Technical school background or at least five years of construction experience.
  • Prior experience working in gas distribution is an asset, past experience with Enbridge Gas (formerly Dominion) also an asset.
  • Experience in Pipeline Distribution work or Telecommunications work.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen.

The expected pay for this role is $37.91 USD per hour as per the current Collective Agreement. 
 
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
