Travel Requirements: Travel will be required to Aecon’s sites throughout Canada

Essential Function and Responsibilities

  • Inspect cranes for any mechanical malfunction and attended to issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.
  • Calculate crane capacities and determine load weights.
  • Operating crane to unload, lift, move, position or place materials.
  • Modified cranes to improve operations during construction.
  • Ability to climb, towers and poles, work at heights, and work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements.
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • 2-3 years’ experience operating heavy equipment safely
  • 2-3 years’ experience performing preventive maintenance tasks on equipment
  • 2-3 years’ experience operating mobile cranes.
  • 2-3 years' experience assessing and identifying on site hazards when it comes to crane operation.
  • Certified Journeyman Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
  • Licensed with AB Crane Safety
  • Follow directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Manual dexterity
  • Able to sit for long periods of time in cramped spaces
  • A safety-conscious attitude
  • The ability to work with others in a team
  • Must be willing to work in remote job locations

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • $46.00 - $48.13 hourly rate
  • 5/2 shift, 8 hours per day – flexible to change per project requirements
  • Overtime is given at the rate of 1.5 times the employee straight time hourly rate after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
  • All compensation and benefits will be in accordance with the Project Labour Agreement
  • 10% vacation pay will be provided in accordance with the Project Labour Agreement
  • Camp accommodations or Living out Allowance (LOA) provided for work on site
  • Transportation to site provided

 

Working Conditions and Environment

 

  • Primary work location at site in Edmonton, Alberta with work and travel required throughout Alberta
  • Repetitive movement
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuously changing work tasks
  • Ability to work a significant amount of hours throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
