What is the Opportunity?

From fabrication and modularization to new builds, turnaround and maintenance, Aecon Industrial leads the way in industrial construction and water infrastructure, providing clients in Canada and the U.S. with vertically integrated solutions and exceptional self-perform work.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical/Piping Designer with experience supporting power generation and heavy industrial projects in either Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB offices.

Responsibilities include the development of mechanical and piping work designs for various projects, from conceptual design through construction, including supporting mechanical/piping site work. The successful applicant can look forward to projects including water and wastewater plants, power generating facilities and other industrial facilities throughout Canada and the United States that require all facets of structural/civil design.

What You'll Do Here:

• Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical / piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools. 
• The successful candidate fully understands the process of design development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures. 
• The successful candidate shall be knowledgeable in the design of plant mechanical and piping systems, able to develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), details, equipment plan, piping orthographic and isometric drawings. 
• The successful candidate will have a good understanding of engineer’s design development process. 
• The mechanical/piping designer fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews mechanical supplier documents for accuracy. 
• Help coordinate mechanical/piping design activities work with other discipline groups. 

What You Bring to the Team:

• College or university degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of North American experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design.
• Experience with industry standard engineering software such as Plant3D, REVIT, ACC, BluBeam.
• The successful candidate must have strong communication skills and be capable of collaborating with the multi-discipline engineers and designers
