What is the Opportunity?

Aecon’s Civil East sector is a cornerstone of our construction and infrastructure operations, delivering innovative solutions to some of the most complex and impactful projects globally. Renowned for its expertise in heavy civil construction, our Civil East sector specializes in building essential infrastructure that powers economies and enhances communities.

Our portfolio features cutting-edge work on bridges, highways, tunnels, and airports to name a few! In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.

The Project Manager reports to the Project Director and will be responsible for the successful execution of all tasks assigned to them, including running proposals , running ECI’s, and running projects (including EPC’s). This role is based in Barbados.

 

What You’ll Do Here: 

  • Responsible for delivery against all budget, schedule & quality targets
  • Establish safety, team, systems and procedures and ensure a safe work environment for everyone involved in the project.
  • Develop, monitor and make decisions to ensure project is delivered on schedule.
  • Quality, ensuring key metrics and KPI’s are established and targets are consistently achieved.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project close out.
  • Ensure teams understand and protect Aecon / JV interests under the Prime Contract.
  • Ensure teams have a process to efficiently and effectively process change orders.
  • Financial / cash flow management.
  • Identifies risks and implements mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Ensure everyone on the project has a commercial mindset to deliver the project at or exceeding budget.
  • Create and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders
      • The client, architects, engineering firms, etc. 
      • Joint venture partners
      • Government, the public, special interest groups
  • Creates and maintains a culture and environment that is open and respectful. 
  • Hire, supervise, coach and mentor project personnel.
  • Ensure project has capacity and expert capability is in all engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Expertise in required functional areas: Design management, Project Controls, Procurement, Contract Management, Quality, Commercial Management.
  • Communicates with Aecon Sr. Management to ensure adequate resources are provided
  • Ensure the project as required staffing and succession plans.
  • Builds engagement through ongoing communicates to all staff and stakeholders
  • Provide all required project reporting / forecasting.
  • Aecon ambassador to employees, the client, partners the public and Aecon executive leadership.

 

What You’ll bring to the Team:

 

•    Minimum 10 years of experience managing complex and complex large scale projects, high end hotels, offices or heavy civil  infrastructure construction projects.

•    Degree in Construction Management or related degree such as Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.

•    Experience managing projects in a self-performing environment.

•    Experience managing design-build projects.

•    Experience overseeing multi-disciplinary teams.

•    Strong understanding of construction methodologies and practices gained through operational or on-site project management experience.

•    Well-developed leadership and people management skills.

•    Experience in the construction luxury hotels, villas or hi-rise offices preferred.

•    Experience working with public clients.

•    Experience managing a diverse group of Subcontractors.

•    High level of professionalism when dealing with all internal and external stakeholders.

•    Experience with Hard Dollar and SAP is an asset.
