What is the Opportunity?

Aecon’s Civil East sector is a cornerstone of our construction and infrastructure operations, delivering innovative solutions to some of the most complex and impactful projects globally. Renowned for its expertise in heavy civil construction, our Civil East sector specializes in building essential infrastructure that powers economies and enhances communities.

In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.

We are seeking a Plant Electrician to install, maintain and repair equipment electrical systems and equipment, ensuring safe, efficient and productive operation of machinery and power systems in machinery. This role will be based in Barbados.

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools
  • Test and diagnose malfunctioning machinery using test equipment, and repairs malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as machine repairer, maintenance and tool maker
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices
  • Diagnose, repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards, using electronic test equipment and hand tools
  • Working knowledge of equipment operations consisting of standard motor control, and programmable controllers
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines
  • Answers trouble calls, performers scheduled and non-scheduled inspections, adjustments, repairs, in accordance with diagram or drawing specifications, manuals or other instructions
  • Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid-state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 10 years’ experience in equipment electrical work
  • Must have been employed as an electrician or electrician apprentice within the past 18 months
  • Be able to operate vehicle/Forklift
  • Read Blueprints/Diagrams
  • Use hand tools and meters
