What is the Opportunity?

Aecon’s Civil East sector is a cornerstone of our construction and infrastructure operations, delivering innovative solutions to some of the most complex and impactful projects globally. Renowned for its expertise in heavy civil construction, our Civil East sector specializes in building essential infrastructure that powers economies and enhances communities.

Our portfolio features cutting-edge work on bridges, highways, tunnels, and airports to name a few! In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.

As a Quantity Surveyor at Aecon International, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to streamline project costs and mitigate risks, all while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to building regulations.

 

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Assist with the compilation of tender packages for all Subcontract and self-perform trades.
  • Receive tender package and assist with the analysis of each works packages and development of Commercial Summaries.
  • Negotiation with Subcontractors and vendors to address any tender conditions / qualifications.
  • Issue Subcontract orders in accordance with project requirements and best practice to budget and withing the project program requirements.
  • Attend Subcontract pre-order meetings.
  • Liaise with the site management team to review Subcontract performance and compliance with contract conditions.
  • Review, value and certify Subcontract monthly payment applications.
  • Draft Purchase Requisitions for material purchases.
  • Understand and implement Aecon’s and the project specific standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out quantity take-off using On-Screen Take-Off Software for the development of Bills of Quantities, assessment of Subcontract claims and variations.
  • Manage the Subcontract and main contract change control process.
  • Assist with the management of Subcontract and Work Package budgets providing support to the Commercial Manager where needed for the submission of monthly applications to the client.
  • Review, evaluate, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Participate in monthly financial forecasting, including compiling contract costs.
  • Prepare estimates and costs for the work and monitor them during the project.
  • Assist in the preparation and agreement of Subcontractor final accounts.
  • General commercial departmental administration.

 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or relevant field would be ideal
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Construction surveying industry
  • Attention to detail coupled with exceptional planning and organizational skills 
  • Demonstrate an interest in all aspects of Quantity Surveying and looking for a dynamic workplace that provides an outstanding career opportunity
  • Excellent good communication skills, be able to work flexibly in a team and be a hard worker
  • Professional membership of the CIQA, PQS, RICS or working towards
