What is the Opportunity?
Aecon is a North American construction and infrastructure development company with global experience – transforming vision into reality. We offer a full spectrum of industrial including power, infrastructure, and utility services for refurbishment, maintenance, new build, facilities, modularization, and fabrication and complex projects.
The Mechanical Field Engineer will be responsible for interfacing between the cross functional engineering groups with construction site team. This position is an integral part of the site construction team at the project site responsible for ensuring adherence to all engineering construction plans and specifications in support of the Project schedule.
What You'll Do Here:
- Provide construction site engineering resources and expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret designs, adjust designs to meet mitigate construction delays.
- Facilitate construction and start-up activities.
- Ensure that the design engineering requirements are complied with by reviewing all design drawings/specifications and making daily field inspections as may be required to support compliance.
- Support construction/ engineering for required project submittals for approval.
- Prepare construction related reports based on job site inspections.
- Communicate daily with both construction and design teams and provide input on resolution of problems and issues.
- Assist in developing, updating and monitoring planning and project schedule.
- Perform all engineering tasks using standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Interprets plans and specifications to support construction.
- Prepare miscellaneous reports for project management providing information required to prepare the necessary submittals, designs, layouts, etc. involved in the construction of the assigned project.
- Coordinate subcontractors' activities.
- Responsible for documentation of and distribution of all design changes (redlines) and field modifications working with subcontractors.
- Work with other project entities to assure proper content and assembly of start-up work packages.
- Work with home office engineering, original equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve issues.
What You Bring To The Team:
- Minimum of 10 years related experience with mechanical installations on industry projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or demonstrated combination of education/training and experience.
- Power Plant experience preferred.
- Under limited direction, applies industrial mechanical experience utilizing advanced engineering.
- Apply construction standards, concepts, principles, processes and approaches to complex construction projects for timely resolution on design issues/problems in support of construction schedule.
- The position will work closely with construction and home office teams to expedite request for information answers during construction to minimize schedule impacts.
