Working under the Technical Lead, the Design Package Manager will contribute to all design &
build works involved with the Surrey Langley Skytrain Stations Project.
Responsibilities
· Lead Stations Design Package Meetings.
· Ensure design is done as per Design Management Plan, Design Quality Management
Plan and the Project Agreement (PA).
· Ensure design meets constructability requirements of Construction Team.
· Ensure design is delivered on agreed schedule, within design budget and acceptable
Bill of Quantities.
· Work with the Interface Management Team on managing inputs and requirements
from other Project Cos and stakeholders, ensuring that information is provided and
received in a timely manner to meet designs schedule.
· Ensure design meets Safety in Design principles. Ensure a safe design for the entire
life-cycle of proposed New Infrastructure from construction to O&M stage is
provided.
· Assist Technical Lead on Province/Stakeholder liaison on technical matters.
· Assist Technical Lead to manage contract with the Design Consultant, Independent
Checker (IC), and other design sub-consultants.
· Provide technical support and inputs to wider team, e.g. Quality, Commercial,
Environmental, Procurement and Communications team.
· Identify and manage Risk & Opportunities.
· Manage and progress Request for Information, Design Change Requests and Non-
conformances.
· Ensure compliance with the project ‘s Document Management Plan and Records
Management Protocol.
· Design Package Manager is expected to transition to an Engineering Services
During Construction role upon completion of detailed design phase.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· SkyTrain or transit station design and construction knowledge is preferred as well
as excellent knowledge of contractual and building regulations.
· Good management and leadership skills. Hands-on approach and ability to lead and
inspire by example.
· Good understanding and experience with Quality Management Systems.
· Prior knowledge/experience in design and construction projects in British Columbia
is preferred.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior design related role earned on public
infrastructure projects. Preferably min 5 years on rail projects, either local BC SkyTrain
projects or similar in other provinces in Canada
· Preferably achieved BC P.Eng. or AIBC status
· Proficient in MS Office applications and AutoCAD/BIM. Experience in Aconex, Procore or
similar project EDMS is preferred but not mandatory.
· Valid BC driving license.
