Position Title:  Onboarding Manager

Position Overview
The Shoreline Power Group is a Joint Venture of Aecon, United and SNC-Lavalin.  Shoreline Power Group will be completing the Fuel Channel and Feeder Replacement (FCFR) project.  The joint venture has been awarded a contract by Bruce Power to execute the Unit 6 FCFR at the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Kincardine, Ontario. 

This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064, the project is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program to replace the main components of the reactor. Unit 6 is the first of six reactors being replaced by Bruce Power through the MCR program. 

The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders for Unit 6, as well as construction management and trade labour. Work is scheduled to commence in June 2020, with expected completion in the third quarter of 2022. 


Reporting to the Series Training/Onboarding Manager, the Onboarding Manager will be accountable to lead a team that will onboard, train and qualify project employees and skilled trades assigned to all projects at Bruce Power. The Onboarding Manager will ensure that all project personnel receive all required project specific training.  Training categories include: 
•    Project Specific general training
•    Quality and Safety Training 
•    Owner/site-access required training 

The Onboarding Manager will lead a cross functional team of Onboarding & Training Coordinators, , Workforce Development Specialist to prepare and support the required project training plans.  The primary goal of the Onboarding Manager will be to ensure sufficient numbers of qualified staff are in role per the staffing plan.  

 

Key Responsibilities 
•    Leading training coordination and qualification maintenance for new and existing project employees
•    Ensure training is completed for all project staff and documented to meet legislated internal and client requirements
•    Actively engage with construction leadership on hiring forecasts and secure and mobilizing at appropriate onboarding locations.  
•    Ensures all site access security and administrative requirements are met for new hires
•    Facilitates project specific training needs assessments
•    Interfaces with client to ensure that training demand is identified and supported where not provided by the Joint Venture
•    Generation, execution and management of a staffing plan for the onboarding team 
•    Identification and resolution of any training deficiencies within the Project 
•    Identifying and implementing all home office corporate QA and EHS training requirements
•    Liaise with operations and implementation leads to ensure training programs meet project needs
•    Developing a continuous improvement training plan focused on lessons learned throughout the course of the project
•    Delivering all training programs and courses in an engaging manner to ensure retention of content
•    Managing all training department staff and assessing their performance
•    Liaising with the client to identify synergies across previously-implemented training systems
•    Identification of training gaps on the project, through generation and management of “Training Needs Analysis”
•    Developing the curriculum for all of the training requirements identified for project completion

 

Required Knowledge and Experience
•    Experience in managing training/development for nuclear construction, outage execution, or related projects 
•    Post-secondary education in a technical field or Bachelor’s Degree
•    Knowledge and experience with SAT/ADDIE training & adult learning principals 
•    Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team 
•    Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task / service oriented 
•    Thrive on a fast paced-environment 
•    Training system software experience considered an asset
•    Advanced Microsoft Office skills
•    Highly self-motivated team player with a participative management style and strong interpersonal skills.
