Position Overview
Aecon is well-positioned in the Canadian marketplace as an industry leader in the development and construction of infrastructure. We have a roster of ongoing major projects here and abroad, record backlog diversified across multiple sectors and duration, and a robust pipeline of future project pursuits. We are in a strong market position, but we are ultimately aiming higher.
The Business Process Analyst is responsible for analyzing and evaluating existing/proposed systems and devises processes and procedures for solving business issues. Due to advanced functional and enterprise-wide knowledge the incumbent will be expected to provide training, mentoring and support to the business.
Key Responsibilities
Process Engineering
• Facilitate business process reengineering workshops to streamline and improve business processes
• Write improved procedures, workflows and user guides
• Engage appropriate teams throughout project to ensure adherence to technical standards and architecture
• Create end user process and solution documentation for purposes of testing, training
• Construct workflow charts and diagrams
• Improve systems by studying current practices and suggesting modifications
• Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
• Review a variety of areas including operations, purchasing, inventory, distribution, and facilities
• Applying sound analysis and logical reasoning to evaluate ideas, decisions, and outcomes
Project Management
• Provide regular updates to meet expectations of Project Manager and BPMO Management
• Provide problem solving assistance to other colleagues
• Execute assignments based on project management best practices and methodologies
• Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress, and recommending actions
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Change Leadership
• Understand and communicate the operational impact of any changes
• Suggest changes to senior management using analytics to support your recommendations
• Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
Data Analytics and Reporting
• Perform data analysis for purposes of migration including extractions, mapping, cleansing and transformation
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
• Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
• Create informative, actionable, and repeatable opportunities for improvement
• Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
Required Knowledge and Skills
• Construction industry experience an asset
• 3 - 5 years in a Business Analyst role
• Experience as an SAP business/functional analyst
• Experience in report design and development
• Experience in business process analysis
• Experience in SAP operational processes and financial systems
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the business and define initiatives
• Demonstrated expertise in conceptual problem solving
• An ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision
• Process engineering; understanding current situation and recommending future state processes
• Strong analytical skills and business requirements gathering
• Strong support experience and excellent documentation skills
• Experience in testing, documentation, and user training related to the application development life cycle
