What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Team Lead, Buyer, the Buyer Co-op student will support the purchasing, processing and reconciliation of hardware related items. This is a 4-month co-op opportunity. 

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Understand how purchasing can enhance the enterprise, supply chain and competitive strategy
  • Support IS with the purchase of Hardware
  • Review Goods Receipt Invoice Receipts discrepancy and coordinate corrective actions with internal stakeholders or vendors.
  • Management of Daily IS Tickets for End Users
  • Clearly understand the variables that drive cost and develop strategies to eliminate waste.
  • Prepare and issue RFX documents to qualified vendors (request for quotes, information, proposals, etc)
  • Negotiate and/or aid with the negotiation of best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting the total cost of procured items or services.
  • Collaborate with Aecon’s Operations personnel and supporting regional offices in obtaining hardware required as needed.
  • Logistics management including expediting for critical site deliveries.
  • Manage the lifecycle of purchase order activity.
  • Maintain high data integrity when inputting records in the company’s database systems.

 

What You Bring to the Team: 

  • Current student or new graduate in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business Administration or comparable.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, practices, and ethics
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clients.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products.
  • Attention to detail and highly analytical
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset.
