Under the supervision of the Manager, Technical Writing, the Technical Writing Co-op supports the development of technical proposal content across electric, energy, and telecom infrastructure projects.
This role is designed for a college or university student interested in technical writing, construction, engineering, or business communications. The co-op will assist in drafting, editing, and organizing technical content while learning how construction methodologies, project execution strategies, and operations inputs are translated into clear, client-focused proposal responses.
Co-op opportunities vary in length, this opportunity currently has openings for an 8 month work term starting in September 2026.
What You'll Do Here:
- Support the development of technical proposal content, working alongside Technical Writers and Proposal Coordinators.
- Assist in drafting and editing technical sections based on existing content, notes, and input from team members.
- Help format technical narratives (e.g., methodologies, project approaches) using established templates and style guides.
- Take notes during meetings with operations teams and help capture key points for use in proposal responses.
- Support the organization and maintenance of technical content libraries, including standard write-ups and reusable content.
- Assist with updating project profiles, resumes, and supporting technical documentation.
- Perform basic quality checks, including formatting, consistency, and completeness of technical sections.
- Help tailor existing content to align with specific project scopes under guidance.
- Prepare draft content packages for review by Technical Writers and proposal leadership.
- Participate in proposal team meetings, reviews, and feedback sessions to learn best practices.
What You Bring to The Team:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Engineering, Construction Management, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- Strong written communication skills, with an interest in technical or structured writing.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow defined templates and processes.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to take direction, ask questions, and incorporate feedback into written work.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance.
- Interest in infrastructure, utilities, or construction environments is an asset.

The expected pay range for this role is $20 - $25 per hour
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
