Aecon’s Corporate Affairs group creates award-winning strategic public relations initiatives, campaigns and materials in support of Aecon’s overall reputation management strategy. With a roster of complex and future building projects across Canada and beyond, we lead the way for Aecon when it comes to external communications, including issues management, project and stakeholder communications, media relations, executive communications, social and digital media and government relations. Key Responsibilities 

  • Support Corporate Affairs department on a broad range of public relations and initiatives on our large-scale infrastructure projects.  
  • Research and curate project, company, and industry media coverage reports/briefings.
  • Support the implementation, organization and user integration of communications database across our projects.
  • Assist with planning project communications meetings, take meeting notes, document best practices and lessons learned.
  • Collate communications content and digital assets for Aecon’s major projects for use on Aecon’s external and internal channels. 
  • Analyze data, plans and schedules to create insightful reports. 
  • Support execution of social media campaigns and assist with improvements to corporate website.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for public inquiries and issues, applying a super positive, agile customer service approach. 
  • Draft communications materials including news releases, articles, letters and award submissions.
  • Key administrative tasks such as expense reports, supply orders, file/digital library organization, etc.

 

Required Knowledge and Experience 

  • University degree paired with a communications post-graduate certificate, or a diploma in communications/public relations.
  • Minimum two to three years of experience in the corporate communications/public relations field.
  • Exceptional written/oral communications skills.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to plan and execute multiple priorities with tight deadlines and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work within a team environment and be receptive to direction.
  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills, a team-first attitude and strong work-ethic.
  • Thorough grasp of the Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Working knowledge of the infrastructure and energy sectors an asset.
  • Experience using photo and video editing software an asset.
  • French language skills an asset.
